5.2 New Underslung LPG regulator with gas soundness test
5.2 New Underslung LPG regulator with gas soundness test
This service involves the safe removal of the existing underslung LPG regulator and installation of a new, compliant regulator suitable for leisure vehicle use. The regulator is mounted externally beneath the vehicle and is a critical safety component, reducing cylinder pressure to a stable working pressure for all gas appliances.
Once the new regulator is fitted, the full LPG system is subjected to a gas soundness (tightness) test using calibrated equipment. This test confirms there are no leaks anywhere in the system pipework, joints, or appliances and that the installation meets current safety standards.
The process includes:
-
Isolation of the LPG supply and safe removal of the old regulator
-
Installation of a new approved underslung LPG regulator
-
Inspection of visible pipework and fittings in the regulator area
-
Full gas soundness/tightness test of the LPG system
-
Confirmation that the system is safe for use
This work is essential if a regulator is out of date, faulty, contaminated (e.g. oil ingress), or as part of routine gas safety maintenance. It helps ensure reliable appliance performance and, most importantly, safe operation of the LPG system.
