VW ID. Buzz Pop-Top Roof Guide: Price, Compatibility and Options

VW ID. Buzz Pop-Top Roof Guide: Price, Compatibility and Options

A pop-top roof can make the Volkswagen ID. Buzz far more practical as a compact electric campervan by adding standing headroom and, when specified separately, the option of an additional sleeping space. This guide explains how the Stargaze rear-elevating roof works, what the fitted price covers and what to check before booking.

CCCampers supplies and fits the roof to a suitable customer-supplied VW ID. Buzz at our Worcestershire workshop. The vehicle is not included in the roof price.

How much does a VW ID. Buzz pop-top roof cost?

The Stargaze rear-elevating pop-top roof is available from £3,999 including VAT and professional installation. This starting price covers the roof and fitting to a suitable vehicle. Colour coding, solar integration and a roof bed are optional upgrades and are priced separately.

See the VW ID. Buzz Stargaze pop-top roof fitting package for the current product details.

Which way does the rear-elevating roof open?

The Stargaze rear-elevating roof hinges at the front and raises at the rear. This creates the greatest headroom towards the rear living area, which can work well where campervan seating, storage or cooking facilities sit behind the front seats.

Does the roof fit L1 and L2 VW ID. Buzz models?

The roof is offered for VW ID. Buzz L1 standard-wheelbase, L2 long-wheelbase and Cargo applications. Final compatibility must be checked against the exact model, vehicle specification and any existing modifications before installation.

If you are unsure which version you own, provide the registration and vehicle details when enquiring so the CCCampers team can confirm suitability.

Is a roof bed included as standard?

No. A sleeping platform is not included as standard. A roof bed is an optional add-on for customers who want an additional sleeping space. Its suitability depends on the selected roof specification, intended occupants and overall campervan layout.

Can solar panels be added to the pop-top?

Solar-panel integration is available as an optional upgrade. The appropriate panel and charging arrangement depend on the roof, electrical system and expected power use. It is best planned before installation rather than added as an afterthought.

What is included with the Stargaze roof?

  • Rear-elevating pop-top roof, hinged at the front
  • Zip-out scenic canvas with clear viewing panel
  • Side mesh flyscreens and high-level ventilation
  • Stainless-steel scissor hinges
  • Assisted lifting struts
  • Integrated front wind deflector
  • White GRP finish as standard
  • Professional fitting at the CCCampers workshop

Can the roof be colour coded?

Yes. White GRP is the standard finish, while colour coding is available as an optional upgrade. Colour matching should be discussed when the booking is specified.

Will a pop-top suit my campervan layout?

That depends on how you plan to use the ID. Buzz. A rear-elevating roof places standing room towards the back and can complement layouts with the main living facilities behind the cab. Roof-bed access, furniture position, lighting and solar requirements should all be considered together.

For wider planning advice, read our VW ID. Buzz campervan conversion technical guide.

Who fits the roof?

The roof is fitted by CCCampers at our Worcestershire workshop. Our team combines practical campervan-conversion experience with electric and hybrid vehicle training and NCC Academy Trained technicians. CCCampers is one of the UK’s most qualified campervan converters for specialist electric campervan work.

What should I check before booking?

  • Confirm whether your vehicle is an L1, L2 or Cargo model.
  • Tell us about any existing roof, interior or electrical modifications.
  • Decide whether you need the optional roof bed.
  • Discuss solar integration before the roof specification is finalised.
  • Consider how the raised headroom will work with your intended interior layout.
